Application

World Animal Protection’s annual award celebrates the strong, unique and lovable personalities of wild animals at facilities, such as rescue centres or high welfare sanctuaries, that contribute to ending their commercial exploitation.

Before completing your application please review the award terms and conditions for entries and for further information on how to complete your application.

The Prize

There will be a one-off prize of 10,000 USD to the winner, and a prize of 3,000 USD for the runner up, which is to be used to provide care and protection to the wild animals at your facility.

Please note:

  • Read the eligibility criteria and content submission requirements.
  • There may only be one wild animal submission per facility.

Key dates

  • The application deadline is 7th July 2024
  • If your animal makes the shortlist, we will request additional content about the animal and your facility before public voting opens.
  • Public voting will run 4th October 2024 - 25th October 2024

Video format requirements:

  • a short video clip (less than 2 minutes),
  • recorded in a vertical/ portrait orientation,
  • not be edited, have special effects, or music, text, or narration,
  • uploaded in one of the following formats: AVI, MP4, .mov, AVCHD,
  • 60 MB limit.


Videos can be recorded on a mobile device, but please ensure to follow the video format requirements detailed above.

  • High resolution logo of your facility,
  • Up to four photos of the wild animal (face, full body, in action, etc).

This should contain media content and a description that describes and demonstrates the unique personality traits of one wild animal under your care in ways that allow outside observers to recognise these and be inspired by them. It is important that the unique behaviour is recognisable through this content, ideally in a concise manner.
